KCITY provides a collaboration framework between Yale Principal Investigators (PIs) and Korean companies across various phases of a collaborative project.
Starting with a feasibility study, Yale PIs will survey technology needs, communicate with Korean companies, network with research institutes, and form joint R&D teams. KCITY will support these efforts by funding preliminary research, facilitating communication, and assisting with budget planning and proposal submission. The core technology development phase spans three years, focusing on research, patent filing, and customer discovery, with KCITY providing support by hosting visitors, aiding patent applications, and organizing networking events.
The subsequent phase emphasizes upscaling, customer discovery, and additional IP development over two years, involving licensing agreements and business model development. Continued cooperation is anticipated, with ongoing R&D, patent filing, technology transfer, and customer discovery facilitated by a sustainable relationship between Yale and Korean companies.
